Nothing blocked, nothing shaped

We do not block, throttle or limit any streaming service of any kind. Your line runs at the full speed you pay for, whatever you choose to watch.

We strongly recommend well-known paid platforms such as DStv, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Licensed services are stable, properly supported and safe to use on your connection.
Services hosted and peered locally in South Africa reach you in a few milliseconds. The same content served from abroad travels much further, which shows up as slower starts and buffering.
If a streaming service keeps buffering, open a YouTube stream on the same device and watch the quality. YouTube caches locally in South Africa and only needs around 4 Mbps for a decent stream, so if it plays smoothly, your Crazyweb line is fine and the problem sits with the other service or its servers. If YouTube buffers too, get hold of us and we'll investigate the line.
Typical figures for a Crazyweb line. Actual results vary by service, device and time of day.
Licensed platforms with local servers or caches peered at local exchanges — DStv Stream, Netflix and Prime Video all cache locally.
Servers in Europe, the US or Asia, with every request crossing undersea cables and multiple international networks.
Unlicensed services almost always run from offshore servers with no local caching, which is why they buffer and drop quality even on a fast line. A licensed platform on the same connection will usually look and sound better.
Any service offering well-known channels or content that does not come from the original rights holder cannot be considered a legal service — whether it is sold at a reduced rate or not. If a package looks far cheaper than the official platform and carries the same premium channels, it is not licensed to resell them. We do not block these services, but we cannot support or troubleshoot them, and using them carries legal and security risk that sits with the subscriber.
